WOS Consultants Leighton Smith, Maleeka McCray Volunteer for AmeriCares HomeFront

Leighton Smith and Maleeka McCray, both WOS consultants for Avon Products, recently volunteered with AmeriCares HomeFront, a community-based organization that provides free repairs to low-income homeowners.

On Saturday, May 7, Smith and McCray worked with Avon manager Sharon Gorman and others to help repair an elderly woman’s home in New Rochelle, NY. According to Smith, Gorman participates every year and inspired Smith and McCray to volunteer their time to this worthwhile cause.

The duo of consultants painted a backyard shed, while others cleaned the woman’s garage. Smith said he was very happy we participated. "Every time you see a group of people volunteer, help people, and have fun, it’s a great feeling," he said. "(The homeowner) was very thankful for everything we did. I will definitely do it again next year."

McCray echoed Smith’s sentiments. "I appreciated the experience and would do it again as well," she said. "We got to know our colleagues better through volunteering."

Avon Products is listed as a "Barn Raiser" sponsor for HomeFront, donating thousands of dollars each year to help fund the organization’s efforts.

Smith and McCray provide consulting services to Avon’s Web enablement department.
