We at Workforce Opportunity Services want to communicate our solidarity with the Black community, and our support for progress towards racial equality and social justice.
This fight is not new. Black Lives Matter is an inarguable demand for justice, equality, and reform. The movement goes beyond spreading awareness and calls everyone to take direct action in honor of George Floyd, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many others.
The mission of Workforce Opportunity Services has always been to develop the skills of untapped talent from underserved communities, including people of color, through partnerships with organizations dedicated to diversifying their workforce. Diversity and inclusion have always been core to who we are, and our vision has always been to empower individuals to move from economic need to long-lasting professional success and financial independence, as well as help companies cultivate diverse and inclusive workplaces representative of the communities they serve.
Ongoing action, led by our employees and championed by our leadership will make this sustainable. Engaging our participants, amplifying their voices, and empowering them to take action is how we will succeed.
It’s time for all of us to step up and show our solidarity and support. We need to listen, we need to learn, and we need to act. This is a movement that needs all of us. We encourage all the WOS family to reflect on how they too can further the conversation and do the work to combat racism and inequality.
