Alight Solutions and Workforce Opportunity Services Join Forces to Support Chicago-Area Veterans

Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS)—the leading non-profit organization connecting individuals from underserved populations with transformative career opportunities—is proud to announce it is partnering with Alight Solutions. As part of the relationship, WOS is spearheading the recruitment, training and onboarding of information security and project management talent for Alight, the leading provider of benefits administration and cloud-based HR solutions.

To address Alight’s talent needs, WOS recruited twelve post-9/11 veterans who are currently completing the educational component of the program. WOS, alongside its academic partner McHenry County College, has developed a tailored 8-week curriculum to cultivate participants’ hard-and soft-skills. Participants training for the information security roles will also receive training from EC-Council for their EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA) and Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH) Certifications; those pursuing the project management track will go on to gain their Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certificate.

“Alight is thrilled to be working with WOS to support our veterans and active service military men and women,” said Steve Bandrowczak, CIO and COO of Alight Solutions. “As a company focused on technology and innovation, we benefit tremendously from the unique skills—such as critical thinking—that members of our military have honed over the course of their careers. We are excited to welcome our first class of veterans and look forward to the impact they will make as part of Alight.”

One of Alight’s core values is ‘People Matter;’ defined as believing in the power of people and that best ideas can come from anywhere, a shared value that led to our partnership. “Diversity promotes innovation and encourages outside-the-box thinking and problem solving, which in turn enables companies to better address and anticipate the needs of its customers,” says Dr. Art Langer, founder and chairman of WOS. “WOS is honored to work with companies like Alight who are committed to workforce diversity, and we look forward to a long-lasting partnership,” adds Dr. Langer.
