Automobile Club of Southern California and Workforce Opportunity Services Join Forces

Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS)—the leading non-profit organization connecting individuals from underserved populations with transformative career opportunities—has joined forces with the Automobile Club of Southern California (Auto Club), the largest member of the AAA Federation of motor clubs. Through the WOS Talent Acquisition Program (TAP), WOS is spearheading the recruitment, training, and onboarding of nine post-9/11 veterans for the Auto Club’s AAA Texas administrative office in Coppell, Texas. Upon completion of the academic training program, these veterans will fill roles as entry-level Mainframe/COBOL computer programming professionals.

Currently, the program participants are completing the academic training component of the program, administered in partnership with Collin College. After 25 weeks of academics (12 weeks of full-time academics and 13 weeks of academics paired with part-time work), they will transition into a full-time consultancy phase at AAA Texas, gaining hands-on experience while still employed by WOS. After a period of 39 weeks as a consultant, they will be eligible to be hired by AAA Texas in its Coppell office.

“The Auto Club is a service-oriented organization continually seeking qualified staff that will fit into our culture and brand,” said Jim Philipp, vice president of human resources.  “Through WOS we have the opportunity to help veterans and identify qualified candidates who have received the type of education and training we believe will fill the Club’s needs. We are excited to see this cohort of veterans complete their training and begin working with the team.”

“WOS is thrilled to work with the Auto Club, a like-minded organization with a deep commitment to supporting its community, while enabling WOS to contribute to the safety of those on our nation’s roads,” says Dr. Art Langer, Founder and Chairman of WOS. “We look forward to watching these nine veterans succeed in their roles as well as deepening our relationship with the Auto Club and helping them solve their talent needs.”
