Taking Time to Reflect on National Day of Service and Remembrance

By: Arthur Langer, Chairman and Founder of Workforce Opportunity Services

Each year on National Day of Service and Remembrance we honor and remember all those whose lives were lost on September 11, 2001. This time of year can be especially difficult for many as it brings up memories of one of the greatest tragedies to strike our nation. Some of us were in NYC when the twin towers were hit, while others lost friends and family members in the attack. No matter how the day impacted you, we all felt the overwhelming loss and injustice inflicted upon our nation.

While we remember those who lost their lives, WOS would also like to take a moment to honor each of the individuals who have fought to protect our rights, while keeping our country safe. To our veterans and active duty service members: we cannot express enough how thankful we are for each of you and all you have done for our country.

We put our gratefulness into action in 2010 with the expansion of our partnership with Prudential to serve our post-9/11 enlisted veterans to help them transition to civilian careers. Since then, 56% of our program participants have been veterans and have represented one of the most successful untapped talent pools we serve.
