Workforce Opportunity Services is Working to Close the Gender Gap

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Workforce Opportunity Services is honoring their important role in today’s workforce.

Did you know:

While great strides have been made, on average women earn 20% less than their male counterparts, highlighting more work is needed to close the gender gap. Through our partnerships, Workforce Opportunity Services (WOS) is empowering underserved and veteran women to join the workforce and equipping them with the skills necessary for success.

Here are a couple of WOS highlights:

  • 65% of the non-veterans we’ve helped are women.
  • 20% of the post-9/11 veterans we’ve served are women, whereas women only represent 10% of veterans.

To showcase our successes, WOS has launched a social media campaign, #WOSDifference, highlighting the lives we've impacted. Our inaugural #WOSDifference feature is a current WOS consultant and veteran, Michelle Schwarz.

Thanks to CareCentrix and WOS, I was able to participate and successfully complete the Business Data Analytics program. Three years ago, I dreamt of having this as a career. Who would have thought that after 10 years of graduating with a B.S. in Information Systems, that I would find my way back to what I really want to do. I love that this career utilizes my analytical, IT, mathematical, communication, collaborative, critical thinking and attention to detail skills. I am the bridge between business and computer science. Now, I'm looking for advanced studies in Data Science. I’m truly grateful and excited for this new chapter.—Michelle Schwarz, WOS Consultant, CareCentrix
