Metchie Trujillo is a craft artist based in Los Angeles, California. At a young age, she developed interest in origami (paper folding), scrapbooking and rubber stamp collecting, and eventually her passion expanded more deeply in paper crafting. Although card making is her main expertise, she also enjoys designing party invitations, creating unique tags for party favors, jewelry making, calligraphy and event planning.
She has been curating a collection of handmade cards for friends and family over the years but it was not until 2019 that she launched an online shop called Pia Paperie, inspired by her daughter’s name. Initially created simply as an outlet for artistic energy, the little shop has grown into a small business. Her distinct style features layers with delightful detail, dimension, embellishment, and personalization.
A graduate from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a Biology degree, her love for science motivated her to obtain a nursing degree as well. As a surgical registered nurse by trade, she believes that both card making and giving has a therapeutic value; she enjoys making cards for her patients to wish them a speedy recovery from surgery. She puts ample care and attention into her work because handmade cards can truly make people feel special and loved.
