  • This program provides NO COSTcomprehensive training to highly motivated individuals. If selected for the program, you will receive customized training, followed by Full-Time employment with our partner, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont.

  • This program will focus on Microsoft Office and Interpersonal Skills.
  • Upon successful completion of the training period, participants will work in the field of Medical Claims Processing. 
  • As a medical claims processor you will manage insurance claims from patients and medical offices. It is the job of the claims processor to analyze and process the insurance claim, checking it for validity.

Candidate Profile:

  • Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • High School Diploma/GED (Some college preferred)
    • Interested in pursuing a long-term career in the healthcare industry
    • Availability to work Full-Time
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Must be a motivated, self-starter, with high initiative and sense of urgency, and have a high attention to detail.
    • Proven ability to work well in a stressful environment, interact in a team environment and foster positive attitudes
    • The ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations
    • The ability to read, understand, interpret and follow written direction
    • The ability to accurately perceive detailed information, including verbal and numerical material.
    • The ability to code information correctly
  • Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • Some knowledge of health insurance industry.
    • Some experience with medical terminology, as well as billing and medical codes.
    • Knowledge of multiple systems, strong PC skills, typing skills of 40 wpm without errors.
    • Needs to demonstrate willingness to be cross-trained in other roles/duties.
    • Organizational, multi-tasking, and strong Interpersonal Skills
    • Experience working in a production and quality environment.

Program Information:

  • Program Selection Event (assessment/interview stage)
    • Dates/Times: (all dates are mandatory)
      • June 24th - 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
      • June 25th - 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
      • June 26th - 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
  • Phase 1 - Academics (4 Weeks): 
    • Orientation: Week of July 8th, 2019
    • Full-Time Academics Start Date: July 15th, 2019
      • Monday – Friday (9:00 am - 5:00 pm)
    • Training will include:
      • Microsoft Office
      • Interpersonal Skills
    • Academic Compensation: $400/Week Stipend.
      • This stipend is a miscellaneous payment (Form 1099) and is required to be reported to IRS when filing taxes.
  • Phase 2 - Full-Time Work (39+ Weeks): Start Date August 12th, 2019
    • Full-Time work:  
      • A minimum of 39 weeks, after which, you will be eligible for hire at BCBS of Vermont
    • Full-Time Work Compensation: $12.50/Hour (Plus Benefits)
