Workforce Opportunity Services program offers local residents chance to work at GE Capital

Many people consider spring as a time of renewal and new beginnings. That is exactly what more than 40 Detroit-area residents, including four from Warren, are hoping for. Those four people are part of a group of 42 candidates anxiously waiting to hear if they will be among the 15 finalists for a job-training program that is a partnership between Workforce Opportunity Service program and GE Capital.

WOS was founded more than a decade ago as a non-profit organization that works closely with academic partners and corporate sponsors to develop specific training for those sponsors, in this case GE Capital. The program is designed to target at-risk graduates and honorably discharged veterans who served in Iraq or Afghanistan and have their high school diploma or GED to give them the training they need to get a particular job.
