Workforce Opportunity Service’s (WOS) 20-years of research and experience can offer a myriad of best practices and organization design that can help departments to form scalable approaches for acquiring early talent from local communities.

Additionally, WOS uses predictive analytics tools that measure an individual's probability for successful assimilation into your organization as well as readiness for further promotion.

Predictive Analytics

WOS was founded by Dr. Art Langer drawing upon research he conducted at Columbia University. The goal was to understand the employment challenges underserved individuals face and how to help them develop the necessary skills so that they could compete for jobs in a rapidly changing workforce. The results of the study demonstrated the need for training programs that incorporate both communication skills and self-esteem building.

This led to the development of a predictive analytics tool, The Langer Workforce Maturity Arc, which measures an individual’s readiness to successfully assimilate into the workforce.

The LWMA is an instrument designed to measure an individual’s readiness to successfully assimilate into a corporate workforce. Participants are required to respond to specific questions in learning journals which are coded qualitatively; ques are used to create and maintain an individual arc for each participant. Weaknesses in a participant’s workforce maturity are noted, and a separate plan is developed to help develop growth in that area.

The LWMA assesses individual development in six distinct sectors of workforce literacy:

  • Cognition
  • Technology
  • Business Culture
  • Socio-Economic Values
  • Community and Ethnic Solidarity
  • Self-esteem

Ultimately, a participant's arc is representative of his or her chances of success in the workforce.
