Vanessa Jones

Guest Presenter, National Portrait Gallery

With over 10 years of museum experience, Vanessa Jones is passionate about the power of museums to inspire curiosity, learning and empathy. She has been the National Portrait Gallery’s Access Programs Manager since 2015, during which time she has advocated for accessibility and inclusion throughout the museum and spearheaded the development of a variety of programs and initiatives to enhance the experience of visitors with disabilities.

Prior to coming to the Portrait Gallery, Vanessa was an educator at the National Building Museum, where she worked with K-12 students, teachers, and docents. Vanessa’s approach to education is to design multimodal programs that are inclusive of a broad range of visitors. In addition to developing and implementing museum education programs, Vanessa has extensive experience facilitating in-gallery experiences.

Vanessa has a B.A. in French from the University of Miami, an M.A in Art History from the Courtauld Institute, University of London, and an M.A.T in Museum Education from The George Washington University.
